Eminent theatre and film actor Manoj Mitra today resigned as president of West Bengal Natya Akademi.
"I could not take decisions on my own. I had to take the help of other people to get me access to funds for implementing my decisions," Mitra said.
A wing of the department of Information and Cultural Affairs of the state government, the Akademi works on promoting and archiving Bengali theatre and drama.
They also conduct annual theatre festivals, seminars and public lectures and training workshops and publishes research works and other books on Bengali drama.
Mitra denied there was any political reason for his resignation.
