Mansher wins trap gold in Sajjan Singh shooting meet

The experienced Mansher shot 118 + 19 to win the top prize at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Ranges, ahead of Anirudh Singh and Anwer Sultan, who bagged the silver and bronze medals respectively, on the concluding day of the trap events.

Sultan, who shot 20 in the finals, had to be content with bronze as both Mansher and Anirudh had better overall scores than him.

In the women's section, Varsha Tomar clinched the gold medal after she shot 61 + 17, while Shikha Bhadauria got the silver with scores of 58 + 19. The bronze went to Seema Tomar who shot 63 + 14. Bhadauria and Tomar's overall scores were 77, but the former won the silver as she shot better in the finals.

 

G S Sharan won the gold medal in the junior section after he fired 112.

The silver and bronze medals went to Mohd. Shees (108) and Charu Vikram Singh (106), respectively.

The competition, on invitation on the basis of performances in the last national championship, had started with the trap event yesterday.

The double trap event will be held on Thursday and skeet will take place on Saturday and Sunday, when the competition concludes.

The competition will be followed by two set of selection trials in shotgun.

The first set of trials will be from September 26 to 29 and the second from October 1 to 4.
