"Civil work and furniture normally costs Rs 2000 per square feet. Similarly, fixing electrical and air conditioners also adds up to the cost. Out of the total 5.50 lakh square feet area of the Mantralaya building, about 1.50 lakh square feet was damaged. Hence, renovation work should cost approximately Rs 50 crore. The expenditure will exclude the amount to be incurred on logistics," MPCC spokesperson Anant Gadgil, who is an architect by profession, told reporters here today.
