Indian men doubles pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy ended their campaign on a positive note by grabbing their first success in Olympics by defeating Japan's Hiroyuki Endo and Kenichi Hayakawa in straight games.

Manu and Sumeeth, who had earlier lost both their doubles matches in group D, posted a 23-21 21-11 victory in 35 minutes.

In the opening game, the Indians faced some stiff resistance from their Japanese rivals before they managed to prevail 23-21 in a hard fought game.

However, in the second game the Indians hardly needed to break sweat as they comfortably wrapped up the game and the match in their favour to bow out on a high.

This was their first win from three matches in the Group stage. In their maiden Olympic appearance, the world number 21 had lost 18-21 13-21 to the number two ranked Indonesian pair of Ahsan Mohammad and Setiawan Hendra in their first match.

The Indian duo then ran into world number five Chai Biao and Hong Wei of China and lost 13-21 15-21.
