Most of the prominent faces of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) across the country stood at distant third or fourth positions in their maiden Lok Sabha elections.
Arvind Kejriwal, who took on Narendra Modi from Varanasi, however, stood a distant second to BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate.
Barring Delhi, where an AAP candidate bagged second position, most of its high profile nominees in other parts of the country, fared poorly.

In the national capital, journalist-turned-politician Ashutosh bagged 3,01,618 votes but lost by a margin of 1,36,320 and stood second. In Ghaziabad, AAP's minority face Shazia Ilmi stood at fifth position and bagged merely 89,147 votes.
Similar was the case in Gurgaon where AAP leader and party strategist Yogendra Yadav stood at fourth position winning just 79,452 votes.
In Mumbai, the party had pinned high hopes on Medha Patkar but the social activist secured third position bagging 76,451 votes while her BJP rival and winner Kirit Somaiya polled over 5.25 lakh votes.
Mayank Gandhi, the party's face in Maharashtra, who had taken on former Union minister and AICC General Secretary Gurudas Kamat from Mumbai North west and banker-turned- politician Meera Sanyal, who contested against Union minister Milind Deora from Mumbai South, stood at fourth positions.
In Bangalore, another city where party had high hopes, V Balakrishnan, former Chief Financial Officer of Infosys, bagged 39,869 votes and stood at a distant third position while his BJP rival and winner P C Mohan bagged 5,57,130 votes in the Bangalore-Central constituency.
AAP candidate against Modi in Vadodara Sunil Kulkarni stood third winning only 10,101 votes.
