"After due deliberations, the name of the Urdu, Arbi, Pharsi Vishvidyala would be renamed after some eminent personality of these languages", Yadav said releasing a book written by retired IAS officer Anis Ansari, who is also the vice chancellor of the University.
Earlier, the government had through a letter asked Ansari to suggest names of eminent personalities after whom the university could be renamed.
The previous BSP government had named the University after Bahujan Samaj Party leader Kanshi Ram.
The chief minister also stressed that Urdu language had contributed to the prosperity and development of the country since Independence.
On the massive mandate given to his party in the recently concluded assembly elections, he said it was the responsibility of his government to live up to the expectations of the people.
At another programme earlier in the afternoon, Yadav said his government would do whatever was required for implementation of the Sachchar and Rangnath Misra Commission recommendation at the state level for the benefit of the minorities.
Under attack for going back on his decisions following pressure from opponents, Yadav said many significant decisions were taken though some had to be withdrawn as in a democracy, issues raised by the media and the opposition were also given due consideration.
