Maoist area commander arrested

A self-styled area commander of the Maoists was arrested with arms and ammunition from Karaikela police station area in Naxal-affected West Singhbhum district, a senior police officer said today.

CPI(Maoists) area commander (Porahat sub-zone) Sanjay Bodra alias Tata alias Birsa Bodra was arrested from Nathi Bazar under Karaikela police station last night, Superintendent of Police, N K Singh said.

Bodra was involved in nine Maoist-related incidents under Sonua, Tebo, Bandgaon and Goilkera police stations and was also an accused in the killing of six villagers under Sonua police station two years ago, Singh told reporters here.

Bodra was considered as the right-hand of Maoists leader Prasadji, who was active in Saranda forest area of the district.
 

The police have recovered a country-made pistol, two live cartridges, Maoist literatures and posters from him.
