Maoist arrested in Palamau district

A Maoist, wanted in connection with encounters with security personnel has been arrested in Palamau district, police said on Friday.

Superintendent of Police, Palamau, Ajay Linda said the Maoist, identified as Sonu Singh Kherwar, was arrested from a bazaar under the jurisdiction of Panki police station, about 45-km from here on Thursday following a tip-off.

He was with Manohar ji's armed squad of the banned CPI (Maoist) and was involved in encounters with the security personnel in Palamau, Latehar and Chatra districts and the police was looking for him since 2011, the SP said.
