A Maoist 'commander', involved in nearly 60 criminal cases and carrying a bounty of Rs four lakh on his head, and a member of Revolutionary People's Committee were arrested from a forest area in the district, police said today.
Area Committee Member (ACM) of the Naxals, Kanithi Paparao alias Vijay, was arrested today while RPC member Nupa Lakka was nabbed last evening from Venkatapuram mandal in Bhadrachalam sub-division of the district, Bhadrachalam Assistant Superintendent of Police R Bhaskaran told PTI.
Bhaskaran said Lakka cannot be called a Maoist as is an "organisational fellow".

"We had information that they were moving around and a police team caught them in the forest," he said.
Paparao was underground since 2004, he said, adding the Naxalite was involved in almost 60 criminal cases, including 12 of murder and eight related to "exchange of fire".
