Maoist leader sent to 14-day judicial remand

CPI(ML) Red Star leader Sharmishtha Choudhury, who was arrested in connection with the violence at Bhangar over the construction of a PGCIL sub-station, was today sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

The order was passed by Baruipur Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ayan Banerjee.

Choudhury was produced in the court this morning after the expiry of her 14-day CID remand.

She was arrested along with Pradeep Thakur and Bhangar local Shahnawaz Mollah in connection with the January 17 violence which claimed two lives in South 24 Parganas district.
