Maoist posters found in Purulia ahead of CM's visit

Fifty Maoist posters calling to observe the Martyrs' week were today found in Bandwan area of Purulia ahead of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's visit to the district, official sources said.

The posters, seeking people's support for the Martyrs' Week beginning today, were found in Chirudi area of Bandwan today morning, District Magistrate N Sudhir Kumar said.

Security has been beefed up to foil attempts by the Maoists to create violence during the week and in view of the chief minister's scheduled visit to the district on July 30 next, he said.

Surveillance has been increased on the nine checkposts bordering the neighbouring state of Jharkhand, he said.
 

Movement of outsiders to and from the district is also being monitored, he said.
