Maoist shot dead in encounter with CRPF

An unidentified Maoist was shot dead in an encounter with CRPF in the district today, a CRPF official said.

The encounter took place in Dhabi area in the district when CRPF dispatched four teams from 205 CoBRA battalion and one company from its 153 battalion after getting a tip-off about the presence of some Maoists in the area.

"We had received intelligence inputs regarding presence of a group of Maoists including Sandeep Yadav alias Kaushalji. This group was involved in the torching of 32 vehicles on National Highway-2 on the Gaya-Aurangabad stretch on May 25," a senior CRPF official said.
 

The official said that one company of Special Task Force (STF) of Bihar Police also assisted in the operation. Maoist uniform, literature and camping items have been recovered from the encounter site.

Search in the area was still going on and efforts were on to trace those extremists who might have fled.
