A day after Maoists struck the state killing eight polling and police officials, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren today said the ultras were taking advantage of the interstate border with West Bengal and slipping in to the neighbouring state after the attacks.
Peaceful polling in the first two phases of the three-phase polls in the state including that in the Maoist-affected areas had shown that there was no room for violence.
But the ultras picked up a peaceful area like Shikaripara to strike during the final phase of polling, Soren told reporters while reacting to yesterday's Maoist attack on polling personnel, which claimed eight lives and injured eleven others.
As Shikaripara in Dumka district was located on the border with West Bengal, Soren said the Maoists were taking advantage of the situation after executing their plans.
The state government will review the Shikaripara Maoist attack and do adequate homework to deal with Maoist activities in the state, he said.
The ultras have succeeded in their nefarious design this time, but will be dealt with an iron hand in future, Soren said.
Condoling the incident, the Chief Minister assured best treatment possible to the injured persons.
