Maoists abduct four persons in Jharkhand

Suspected Maoists have abducted four persons, including a government employee, from an area in Giridih district of Jharkhand, police said today.

The rebels intercepted a car near Nokanya village and abducted the occupants -- an employee of a block development office, two members of a panchayat, another person and the driver of the vehicle -- yesterday, Giridih Superintendent of Police Kranti Kumar said.

The rebels let off the driver later and took away the other four persons.

A search operation was on to trace the kidnapped people,he said.
