Maoists beat up Samajwadi Party activists

Two workers of the Samajwadi Party were severely beaten up today by the Maoists when they were holding a meeting at a village in the Latehar district, the police said here.

Dipu Sinha and Vinod Yadav were admitted to a hospital after the rebels attacked them with pipes while they were holding a meeting under Chandua police station area, the sources said.

They let them off after a warning that if they found them in the area again, they would "burn them alive", the police said quoting the victims' complaint.

The rebels also thrashed another SP activist Naval Kishore Yadav.
 

Ranjan Yadav, who according to the police records, has naxal-related charges against him, is contesting on a SP ticket from the Chatra LS seat. Latehar comes under the constituency and his supporters were holding the meeting.
