Maoists destroy guest house to protest BSF camp

Maoists destroyed a private guest house belonging to a granite company at Pedapadu in Pottangi block in the district in protest against the proposed establishment of a BSF camp in the area, the police said today.

A group of around 30 to 40 Maoists attacked the guest house at Pedapadu, situated at a distance of about 85 km from here bordering to Andhra Pradesh, around 8 pm yesterday, the police said.

Using a JCB machine of the company, Maoists destroyed the guest house. As no one was present at the time of the attack, no injury or casualty has been reported, the police said.
 

Posters belonging to Srikakulam-Koraput Division of the banned CPI (Maoist) recovered from the crime spot reveals that the Maoists attacked the building in protest against the proposed deployment of security personnel at Pedapadu.

However, police denied of any proposal of setting up BSF camp at Pedapadu.

"We don't have any plan to set up BSF camp at Pedapadu. This the Maoists have done to create panic among villagers. Combing operation has been intensified in the area," IG (south-western range) Yeshwant Kumar Jethwa, said.
