Maoists have shot dead a 50-year-old man and his son at a village in Palamu district late last night, the police said today.

Over 20 armed Maoists raided Koulhua village, bordering Aurangabad district in Bihar, and dragged out Shivnath Yadav (50) and his son Guddu Yadav (25) from their home before shooting them dead, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Chatarpur), Sanjay Kumar, said.

The police suspect that the Maoists killed the father and son to scare the villagers, the SDPO said.

Superintendent of Police Indrajeet Mahatha rushed to the spot with adequate force and launched a massive search to track down the Maoists, who were suspected to have sneaked into an adjoining district of Bihar.
