Maoists kill villager for being 'police informer'

Maoists allegedly killed a 55-year-old man on the suspicion of being a police informer at a village in the district, police said.

"The victim identified as Satya Rao, was picked up by suspected Maoists from Madathakonda village under G Madugula mandal in the district last night. They took him to interior parts of the region and executed him," Paderu division ASP A Bapujee said.

Before leaving the area, the ultras warned other villagers to stay away from police and government officials and not to support bauxite mining, he said.

According to police, Satya Rao's body has been sighted between Madigaruvu and Kilamkota area, but it is yet to be recovered.
 

The banned CPI (Maoist) has given a call to the people in Agency area to observe 'protest week' starting today and a bandh on December 26 against the state and Central governments' move to take up bauxite mining in Agency area.

Police intensified the combing operations and doubled the security at strategic locations.
