Maoists kill villager in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district

A villager was allegedly killed by Maoists in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, police said today.

Kutti Sodhi's body was found on the Bedre-Kutru road of the district today, a senior police official said.

The incident came to light this morning after some villagers informed the police that Sodhi's body was lying on the road, a few kilometres away from his native village Kerpe, he said.

Prima facie, it appeared that he was attacked with sharp-edged weapons, though the exact cause behind the incident is yet to be known, he said.

Police personnel have been mobilised in the forests to nab the culprits, he said.
