Maoists have torched eight vehicles of the Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) at a village in Gaya district of Bihar, a police officer said today.
Around 15 armed Maoists raided the pipeline construction site of GAIL, being manned by its agency, at Jai Prakash Nagar village last night and torched five tractors, two excavators and a truck reportedly after the natural gas distribution company refused to meet the levy demanded by the ultras, Magadh Range DIG Saurabh Kumar said.
The Maoists also assaulted three local agency employees and snatched their mobile phones before making good their escape, he said.
SP (City) Avakash Kumar has left for the spot to probe the incident, the DIG said.
