Armed Maoists torched eight machines and a vehicle of a road construction company for not getting extortion money at Bagara Ghat in Muzaffarpur district, a police officer said today.

The ultras attacked the construction site of a private company and set ablaze eight machines and the pick-up van last night, Senior Superintendent of Police Ranjeet Kumar Mishra said.

The Maoists also fired indiscriminately at the site, but none was injured.

The rebels also raided another construction site of the same company at Sanot village and threatened its employees, Mishra said.

The attack was in retaliation of non-payment of money, he said.

The construction company is executing road projects to connect Muzaffarpur with Gopalganj district.
