Suspected Maoists vandalised a forest range office in Nayagarh district of Odisha and looted four guns, police said Wednesday.
Seven mobile phones were also taken away by the Maoists from the Banigochha (East) forest range office under Daspalla police station limits on Tuesday night.
"Armed Maoists barged into my quarters and asked me about guns. When I refused to cooperate, they dragged me to the forest office premises. They vandalised the office and decamped with four guns," said Forester Hemanta Kumar Kandi.
Daspalla police station Inspector-in-charge Biswajit Routray said the forest department has lodged a complaint and investigation is on.
The ultras threatened the forest officials to kill them if they raise an alarm and pasted posters on the office walls before fleeing, said another official who was present at the time of the attack.
Seven persons including three women were there in the Maoist group, he said.
