Marandi files nomination for Deputy Speaker's post in Odisha

He was selected for the post by the BJD President and CM Naveen Patnaik

Sananda Marandi of BJD today filed nomination papers for the post of Deputy Speaker of Odisha Legislative Assembly.

Marandi, who had been the deputy speaker in the previous Assembly, was selected for the post again by the BJD President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Patnaik and other ministers accompanied Marandi when he filed his papers.

The election for the post is scheduled to take place on June 16.

Marandi represents Baripada assembly segment, reserved for scheduled tribe candidates, and has been elected from the seat for three consecutive terms.

Marandi's election is certain as the ruling BJD has 117 MLAs in the house of 147 members.
