A march was today held here against "anti-national intellectuals" with protesters saying that educational institutions in the country will not be allowed to be used for anti-India propaganda.

The march from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar was held under the aegis of Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM), an RSS affiliate.

It was led by Lt.Gen. (retd) NS Malik and saw participation by a number of faculty members of JNU and other educational institutions.

Malik and Lt.Gen. (retd) VM Patil slammed what they claimed was an attack by JNU students' union president Kanhaiya Kumar on the armed forces.

SJM's national media in-charge Deepak Sharma condemned the event at JNU to protest against the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, saying he had "conspired against the country, the prime minister and the government and was rightly punished".

Anybody condemning his execution needs to be censured in the strongest words, he said.

Manch co-convener Ashwani Mahajan, also a senior faculty at Delhi University, lamented the misuse of educational institutions for anti-India propaganda.

JNU faculty member Satendra Sharma echoed these views and said such activities tarnished the image of an institution.

A large number of students and educationists participated in the march.
