A march was taken out here today by intellectuals, academicians and professionals in support of the security forces' action in Kashmir.

The march, which concluded with paying tributes to the martyrs at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate, condemned Pakistan for its decision to observe 'Black Day' regarding the recent violence in the valley, said Monika Arora, convenor of GIA which hosted the event.

The marchers pledged their solidarity with the army and government.

"One section of Delhi-based intellectuals and media with vested interests need to realise that even the soldiers have their human rights. They are the ones that defend our country and protect the citizens," Monika said.

The march is aimed at extending support to the government of Jammu and Kashmir, the state police, and paramilitary forces and it appealed to them to make all required efforts for the earliest restoration of peace in the Kashmir Valley, she said.
