The residents of Himachal Pradesh had a marginal relief from biting cold wave conditions as the day temperatures rose by a few notches, but high altitude tribal areas continued to reel under arctic conditions.
The minimum temperatures stayed between minus 12 and minus 18 degrees Celsius in the high altitude tribal areas and mountain passes, while Keylong, Kalpa and Manali recorded a low of minus 6.6 degrees Celsius, minus 2.4 degrees Celsius and minus 1.2 degrees Celsius.
Bhuntar, Solan and Sundernagar shivered at2.4 degrees Celsius, 2.5 degrees Celsius and3.1 degrees Celsius, followed by Una 5.6 degrees Celsius, Dharamsala 6.8 degrees Celsius, Palampur 7.5 degrees Celsius, Shimla 7.7 degrees Celsius and Nahan 8 degrees Celsius.

The local meteorological (MeT) office has forecast rains or snow at isolated places in the mid and higher hills tomorrow and rains or snow in the entire state on February 3 and dry weather on reaming days till February 5.
With rains and snow eluding the region, the rain deficit during the month of January has again increased to 91 per cent and the region received only 8.5 mm rains against the average rainfall of 93.5 mm.
