Margot Robbie will star as Maid Marian in a film inspired by the Robin Hood universe .
The "Suicide Squad" actress will feature in the contemporary take of the classic folk legend that focuses solely on the heroic damsel, reported Variety.
In the new version, Robbie as Marian leads the people in war time after the love of her life, Robin Hood, dies.
The character rises to power, charges into a battle that will not only decide the kingdom's fate, but also see Marian don the armour of the man she loved.
Robbie will also co-produce the film which has been written by Pete Barry.
The actress has recently wrapped production on the Tonya Harding biopic, "I, Tonya".
