Marina, Tadeja to meet in final in CCI-ITF tennis tourney

Russia's Marina Melnikova will meet Slovak Tadeja Majeric in the singles final of the USD 25,000 CCI-ITF women's tennis tournament here tomorrow.

In today's semi finals, third seed Marina overcame a fighting Emily Webley-Smith of Briton in three sets after dropping the opener at the Cricket Club of India's courts.

Fourth seed Tadeja had things very much in her grasp as she dispatched second seed Anastasiya Vasylyeva of Ukraine in straight sets.

There was some cheer for host country India when its number one singles player Ankita Raina, who lost in the singles quarter finals yesterday, won the doubles crown in partnership with China's Jia-Jing Lu.
 

The Indo-China express, seeded fourth, toppled the Thai combine of Nicha Lertpitaksinchai and Peangtarn Plipuech, the tournament top seeds, 6-4 1-6 11-9 in the final.

Results: Singles semi finals: 3-Marina Melnikova (RUS) beat Emily Webley-Smith (GBR) 3-6 7-5 6-3; 4-Tadeja Majeric (SLO) beat 2-Anastasiya VAsylyeva (UKR) 6-2 6-3.
