TV drama 'Twin Peaks' co-creator Mark Frost will write a novel describing life of the show's characters set in the period between the original series and the upcoming season.

The investigation drama first aired in 1990 and it was recently announced that its new season would go into production in 2015 and get released in 2016, reported Variety.

To fill in the gap of 25 years, Frost will pen the novel, 'The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks', which will reveal what happened to the people of that iconic fictional town since 25 years ago and offers a deeper glimpse into the central mystery that was only touched on by the original series.

"This has long been a dream project of mine that will bring a whole other aspect of the world of 'Twin Peaks' to life, for old fans and new. I couldn't be more thrilled," Frost said.

The novel will hit shelves in late 2015. Frost and David Lynch are writing the scripts for all nine new episodes, with Lynch planning to direct the entire run.
