World champion Marc Marquez stormed to his 53rd career pole position at the Argentina MotoGP here.
He now stand just two off the all-time record of 55, held by rival Valentino Ross.
Marquez continued to show impressive speed aboard his Honda RC213V and claimed his fifth pole position in six races at the Argentina track with a lap of 1:38.304 on Saturday.
His teammate Jorge Lorenzo took 1:39.190 to lap the 4.805km long circuit.
This means both Repsol Honda Team riders have moved directly to Q2 together for the first time as team-mates.
