A 24-year-old married woman was found murdered today at her residence in Shalimar Garden area of the district.

Chandrika, who hails from Odhisa and lived with her husband and two-year-old daughter, was found dead with her throat slit, police said.

She was living in the area for the last two year.

"Neighbours found daughter of Chandrika crying in front of the main gate of the house following which they knocked at the door but no one responded. They checked the back door of the house but it was bolted from outside," said Nitin Tiwari, Senior Superintendent of Police.

Sensing some foul play, they forcibly entered the house and found the body of Chandrika in a pool of blood in bedroom, he said.

Police suspect that the killer was familiar with entry and exit of the house, and the murder was not committed for robbery as no valuables were found missing from the house.

Murder weapon was also found lying on Chandrika's body.

Forensic team has visited the spot and collected samples.
