Power transformers maker Marsons today said it is in advance discussions with a manufacturer in Bangladesh to set up a joint venture and production facility in the neighbouring country.
"Marsons is now in advance stages of discussions with a Bangladesh-based transformer manufacturer to create a joint venture company and set up a manufacturing facility for transformers up to 20 MVA 33 kV class as part of the first phase of the company's plan to enter Bangladesh power sector," Marsons said in a regulatory filing today.
The company said the local set up in Bangladesh will give Marsons the benefit of price preference from the Bangladesh power utilities, which will be an instrumental advantage in the company's favour.
The Bangladesh government has announced concrete plans to enhance the generation capacity through investments of nearly Tk 50,000 crore. These plans present a huge opportunity for the power sector and Marson has developed concrete plans to capitalise on these opportunities with clear focus and renewed vigour, the company said.
