Veteran director Martin Scorsese will lead the jury at this year's Marrakech film festival.

It will be the third time that "The Taxi Driver" helmer will be at the Moroccan festival later this year, said The Hollywood Reporter.

"I'm very happy to be this year's jury president. I have made two films in Morocco, during which time I came to admire the spirit of the Moroccan people and the beauty of their culture. I am eager to discover the movies coming from all around the world to this unique festival," said Scorsese in a statement.

Scorsese, 70, first attended the festival in 2005 as it had organised a career tribute for him and he returned in 2007 to present his Leonardo DiCaprio starrer "The Aviator".

He also shot two of his films "The Last Temptation of Christ" (1988) and "Kundun" (1995) in the country. The festival will take place November 29 to December 7.

His next project "Wolf of the Wall Street", which is slated to hit theatres on November 15, will be seen teaming up with DiCaprio for the fifth time.
