Actor Martin Sheen, who underwent a quadruple bypass in Los Angeles, is on the road to recovery.

The "Apocalypse Now" star, 75, checked into the hospital for the procedure, which his son Emilio Estevez said was done as a preventative measure.

Charlie Sheen's brother also assured fans their beloved father is on the mend by sharing a photo on Facebook of Martin giving the thumbs-up from his hospital chair.

"My Pop! Successful proactive quadruple bypass surgery this week! A great Blessing indeed!," Emilio wrote in the caption.

Emilio, 53, also posted a more detailed update on the official Facebook page for the father-and-son team's 2010 film, The Way.

"Fellow Friends and Pilgrims," he wrote.

"At a Los Angeles hospital this past weekend, my father Martin Sheen underwent a very successful quadruple bypass surgery. The decision to operate on his heart was a proactive one, not an emergency situation.

"Not surprisingly, he is recovering beautifully, out of the ICU (intensive care unit) and is expected to not only be home for Christmas, but be 100% by the time he returns to work on season three of the Netflix series, Grace and Frankie early next year.

"Please lift him up and keep him in your prayers. May God Bless you during the Christmas holidays and we wish a wonderful New Year to all."

Martin stars alongside Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Sam Waterston on the TV comedy Grace and Frankie, which launched on streaming service Netflix earlier this year.

It became such a hit with fans, a second season was announced in May, while it was renewed for a third run last week.
