The family of Lance Naik Hemraj, who was beheaded by Pakistani troops along the LoC in January, today wanted to meet Minister of State for Defence Jitendra Singh and the Army Chief but were disappointed as they were not present in their offices.
"We had come to the Defence Ministry to meet Minister of State for Defence Jitendra Singh and the Army Chief but we are disappointed as nobody met us to listen to our grievances," said Jai Singh, brother of Lance Naik Hemraj.
Jai Singh, who was accompanied by three to four of his family members, said they had come to demand the allocation of a gas agency, central government jobs for the two brothers of Hemraj and a piece of three-acre land, which was promised by the government after his death.
Army officials said Gen Bikram Singh was not available in his office for the whole day and that is why could not meet the family.
The family said they had gone to the Congress headquarters as well to meet Jitendra Singh but could not meet him there also.
However, the family said the wife of the martyred soldier has received her dues of Rs 61 lakhs from the Army and was also getting the pension amount.
Hemraj was one of the two soldiers of the 13 Rajputana Rifles battalion killed by Pakistan Army soldiers in a raid along the Line of Control on January 8.
