Martyred sepoy cremated with full military honours in Punjab

Sepoy Manjinder Singh, who was martyred during an encounter with terrorists in south Kashmir's Kulgam district, was cremated with full military honours at his native village Banawali here today .

Singh (22) was killed on November 14 in a counter-terror operation in Kulgam.

Mansa Deputy Commissioner Dharam Pal Gupta and Senior Superintendent of Police Parambir Parmar laid the wreath and paid their last respects to the martyr.

After cremation, Gupta spent time with the family of the soldier and told them that Punjab government stood in solidarity with the jawan's family and would support them in every possible way.

Manjinder enrolled in the Indian Army over two years back and was serving in 10 Sikh regiment. He was recently deployed in Kashmir.
 

Manjinder Singh was struck by a bullet during the fierce operation. He was provided first aid and evacuated to the Army Hospital in Srinagar, where he succumbed to injuries.
