Mary Ann moves closer to title

Woman Grandmaster Mary Ann Gomes, with 8 points, moved closer to the title after the 10th and penultimate round of the Women International Grand Master Chess Tournament held in celebration of the FIDE World Championship Match 2013, here today.

Swathi Ghate shares the second spot along with compatriots S Vijayalakshmi, S Meenakshi and Georgian duo of Keti Tsatsalashvili and Batsiashvili Nino.

Results after Round 10 (Indians unless specified): Swathi Ghate (7.5) drew Gomes Mary Ann (8); Tsatsalashvili Keti (GEO, 7.5) drew Batsiashvili Nino (GEO, 7.5); Mohota Nisha (6.5) lost to Vijayalakshmi Subbaraman (7.5); Meenakshi Subbaraman (7.5) bt Ivakhinova Inna (RUS, 6.5); Kulkarni Bhakti (6.5) lost to Soumya Swaminathan (7); Kiran Manisha Mohanty (6.5) drew Guramishvili Sopiko (GEO, 6.5); Muminova Nafisa (UZB, 7) bt Purtseladze Maka (GEO, 6); Ambartsumova Karina (RUS, 7) bt Lasya G (6); Drljevic Ljilja (SRB,6) drew Vaishali R (6); Pratyusha Bodda (6) bt Aparajita Gochhikar (6).
