"Mudbound" star Mary J Blige is all set to feature in horror thriller, "Body Cam".
This will be the first headlining role for the Oscar-nominated actor, who is renowned rapper and R&B/hip-hop artiste, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The story of the film follows several LAPD police officers who are haunted by a malevolent spirit that is tied to the murder of an African American youth at the hands of two white cops, all of which are caught on a body cam video that was destroyed in a cover-up.
Blige, 47, will play an officer who is rocked by visions and begins to investigate the cover-up.
Malik Vitthal will direct the film, which is being produced by Matt Kaplan.
The plot has been described as a tonal blend of Academy Award-winning "Get Out" (2017) and David Ayer's 2012 crime drama "End of Watch".
The spec script was written by Richmond Riedel, and rewritten by Nicholas McCarthy and John Ridley.
