Masarat Kar joins PDP

Masarat Kar, daughter of a former president of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, Ghulam Rasool Kar, today joined the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) here .

Masarat Kar, a prominent politician from Sopore township of north Kashmir's Baramull district, joined PDP along with hundred other women including many social activists from the area, a party spokesman said here.

Masarat was admitted to party fold by party general secretary Nizamudin Bhat and leader of PDP's women wing and MLA Anjum fazili at a function at party headquarters.

Welcoming Masrat to the party ranks, Nizamudin Bhat said women empowerment is the main focus of the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
 

He said women have always held a special place in the PDP and Mehbooba is a symbol of public confidence in the women in particular to lead the society to new lights.

Masarat's father Was elected as Member of Parliament in year 1996 and also served as state chief of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee.
