Mason electrocuted in Ghaziabad

A 50-year-old mason was electrocuted and another labourer was severely injured in a bid to save him, while they came in contact with electric wires during construction work at a house in Vijay Nagar here.

The incident took place during construction work at the house of one Kutubuddin, police said.

The mason, identified as Prakash, was taking iron bars to the top floor of the house when the rods came in contact with electric wires passing from the front side of the house, police said, adding, Prakash died on the spot.

Labourer Dhani Ram also came in contact with the wires while while he tried to save Prakash, and was burnt severely in the process, Vijay Nagar Police Station officer Avdhesh Yadav said.
 

Dhani Ram was rushed to a district hospital, from where he has been referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.

The body has been sent for autopsy.
