In view of rising number of suicides by students of various coaching institutes here, recreational activities were organised to de-stress entrance exams aspirants in accordance to a directive of the district administration.

The district administration had asked the institutes to hold fun and relaxation activities to de-stress the students following which 'Masti ki Paathshaala' was organised here yesterday, said J L Garg, Director, Science and Information Centre.

The aim was to teach them how to compete only with themselves and love the subjects they aiming for, he said.

Over 1.25 lakhs students from around seven institutes and over 5,000 faculty members participated and enjoyed the series of activities like singing, dancing, painting, dumb sharads, mimicry, pop up and fun games, planned for them, an official of a coaching institute said.

Besides the fun activities, nearly 50 members of the Art of Living foundation conducted Yoga and meditation sessions to help relax the students.

"Meditation activities have relieved us from pressure. Now I will focus better on my studies," Rohit Roshan, a student said.

Expressing concern over the rising number of suicides among students of coaching institutes in Kota, Rajasthan Technical and Higher Education Minister Kali Charan Saraf had last month said that the District Collector had been directed to formulate guidelines in this regard.
