Veerendrakumar was given the award for being the 'Best Media Person' at a function organised by Virendra Sharma, Chairman UK-Kerala Business Forum and T Haridas, Chairman, Keraleeyam, UK Chapter at the House of Commons here last night.
The citation described Veerendrakumar as "an outstanding politician and writer", who is a well known person in Kerala and elsewhere.
He is the Managing Director of Mathrubhumi. He is known for his travels and travelogues as also for his political views and stance.
The other award recipients were V K Ebrahim Kunju, Kerala's Minister for Public Works (Best Minister), Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Deputy Leader of Opposition, Kerala Legislative Assembly (Best Parliamentarian), K Jayakumar IAS (Rtd), Vice-Chancellor, Malayalam University (Best Civil Servant) and Padmashri Dr Ravi Pillai, Chairman, RP Group of Companies (Best Industrialist).
