Children of a state-run orphanage here had a fun evening at a popular burger joint as the new District Magistrate treated them to a meal there.

Around a dozen kids at the children's home were taken out for an outing yesterday to a McDonalds restaurant by District Magistrate B Chandrakala or Chandrakala 'aunty', as they call her, where the kids revelled having burgers, ice creams, and cold-drinks.

She was accompanied by the Social Welfare Officer of the district.

Sharing her experience with the reporters, Chandrakala appealed various government and non government organisations and individuals to come forward and take care of the orphan kids.

"You will feel good if you make the kids happy," she said.

The children's home is located near the DM's official residence and she also visited it last Sunday and spent considerable time with the kids.

She instructed the officials of the state-run orphanage to take better care of the children.

The DM has also intended construction of a few more rooms in the children's home which till now has only two rooms.
