A Mathura-based couple who had been on the run since May 2 after opposition from family over their relationship, was found in Kolkata, police said today.
"The girl and her paramour were found yesterday in Kolkata. The total sequence of events would be known only after their arrival in Mathura," SP (City) Shailesh Pandey said.
The situation in the couple's native Sonkh town had become tense over the incident with a group of miscreants resorting to arson, following which the markets were partially closed on May 6.

"The situation has normalised and the district administration succeeded in preventing any untoward incident," Pandey said.
The relatives of the girl, belonging to a different community than the boy, were regularly apprised of the effort by the police in tracing the couple, he said.
"Two teams were formed to chase the couple. Their whereabout was also being regularly monitored by surveillance team," police added.
