Activists of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of BJP, today burnt an effigy of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav here demanding hike in compensation amount for the kin of police officials who died in clashes between police and encroachers in Mathura.

The protesters raised slogans against the SP government in Uttar Pradesh.

Addressing the protesters, city president of BJYM Ajay Tyagi alleged the Samajwadi Party government has completely failed to maintain law and order in the state.

He accused the government of indulging in nepotism and casteism.

Twenty-four people, including an SP and an SHO, lost their lives during the clashes at Mathura's Jawahar Bagh on Thursday as the encroachers opened fire on the police.

Tyagi accused the SP government of playing "caste politics" in disbursing compensation to the families of the slain policemen.
