Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey turned down the chance to play the villain in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" sequel because he didn't want to become a celebrity "amendment" to the film franchise.
The Oscar winner was offered the chance to play the bad guy in the blockbuster, but turned it down in favour of the opportunity to play the devil in a new adaptation of Stephen King's "The Dark Tower."
The actor, who also rejected the chance to revamp TV detective Magnum for the big screen and "Doctor Strange", said, "I like 'Guardians of the Galaxy', but what I saw was, 'It's successful, and now we've got room to make a colourful part for another big-name actor'. I'd feel like an amendment!"
Benicio Del Toro played the villain in the first film.
