Actor Matthew McConaughey has reportedly been offered the lead role in director Christopher Nolan's upcoming picture "Interstellar".

According to reports, the "Magic Mike" actor is being lined up to play the role of Cooper in the sci-fi movie, reported Digital Spy.

"Interstellar" is said to have been inspired by physicist and relativity expert Kip S Thorne's scientific theory that wormholes exist and can be used for time travel.

The film intends to depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding.

The "Dark Knight Rises" director was first said to be in talks for "Interstellar" in January, when it was reported that he would be re-writing a script by his brother and frequent collaborator Jonathan Nolan.
