"Friends" alum Matthew Perry has sold his former mansion in the Bird Streets neighbourhood above LA's Sunset Strip at USD 12.5 million.

The 48-year-old actor put his home on sale in an off-market deal last month after having failed to attract a buyer on the open market list - from late June to early October 2017 - where the price was set at USD 13.5 million, Variety reported.

Perry owned the posh city-view modern property since August 2011 when he bought it for USD 8.5 million.

Spread over 3,821-square-foot, the state-of-the-art house has a single storey with three bedrooms plus an en suite bonus room suitable for an office of gym, a total four-and-a-half bathrooms and open plan living spaces.

Originally built in 1962 and later remodelled, the mansion also boasts of large stepping stones across a shallow pond with two theatrical fire chalices, a small bit of lawn, a covered patio for dining and lounging and an LED-lit infinity edged swimming pool.

Perry exchanged his Bird Streets house for a grander, mansion-sized aerie at the exorbitantly priced Century tower in Century City, which he bought in last year in May for USD 20 million.
