"Friends" actor Matthew Perry, who has battled drugs and alcohol, says sobriety has led him to finally find "true happiness" in his life.

The 45-year-old actor said while he was getting famous as Chandler Bing on the iconic show, he was struggling with alcohol, reported People magazine.

"I had a big problem with alcohol and pills and I couldn't stop. Eventually things got so bad that I couldn't hide it, and then everybody knew," he said.

After a harrowing battle with alcohol, the actor finally got sober.

"Something clicked. You have to want the help."

Perry, who recently starred on the sitcom "Go On" and appears in recurring role on "The Good Wife", turned his former Malibu beach home into a men's sober living facility called Perry House and is now dedicated to helping other addicts.
