Former BSP leader Swami Prasad Maurya today floated a new outfit to garner support from like-minded people, especially for a rally to be held here on September 22.

"I have formed Loktantrik Bahujan Manch (LBM) which will look into preparations for the grand rally to be held on September 22 in the state capital," he said.

Maurya, who quit the party last month after accusing its supremo Mayawati of auctioning tickets for next year's Assembly election, claimed that he has the support of over 10 sitting BSP MLAs and they will come out at an opportune time.

Office bearers of the Manch at district and divisional levels have been nominated and divisional level meetings will start in eastern Uttar Pradesh from July 31, he said, adding, separate meetings would be held for the western and Bundelkhand region in the state capital.

After quitting BSP, Maurya had held a meeting with his supporters and hinted at floating a new political outfit.

"We will hold a rally on September 22 and all will come to know that it is not just Mayawati who can hold a massive rally," he had said.

Within a week of Maurya leaving BSP, another senior leader R K Chaudhary quit the party levelling similar charges against Mayawati. Two more senior BSP leaders quit the party earlier this month, in back-to-back jolt to the main Opposition party ahead Assembly polls next year.

After Swami's show of strength on July 1, Chaudhary has convened a "grand rally" here on July 26 marking Chattrapari Shahuji Maharaj's birth anniversary under the aegis of Bahujan Samaj Swabhiman Sangharsh Samiti.
